I recently read somewhere that the best camera is the one you have with you.
For me, that has become my iPhone. I have only had one for about 6 months, but I have literally recorded hours upon hours of home video footage using it! It's nice not to have to remember to pack my camera, and comes in handy during everyday outings with Bayla, when unexpected cuteness needs captured!
Here's the downside: it is easy for these videos to become unappreciated. Like toys that forever sit on a shelf, never to be enjoyed by a child. I really have to make an effort to pull the clips I have together and make something out of them. It's a slow and steady process.
Today I got a chance to work on the last bits of 2011 videos that I have left to create. Here is an example of what I do with the clips from my phone:
It may not seem like much, but you can probably imagine what the video clips were like before I edited them together. Lots of background noise, tons of shaky camera work. The 30 seconds I chose for the resulting video were hidden among over 2 minutes of footage! This is why editing comes in handy. These clips started out as tiny files on my phone, and will now end up on my 2011 DVD of home video compilations.
